Hercules Flexes Anderson Pacific’s ‘new downtown’

After eight years of planning, a city hall cri¬sis and an economic recession, developer Anderson Pacific looks forward to breaking ground next year on its Hercules Bayfront proj¬ect that will eventually include up to 1,300 residential units, 165,000 square feet of office space and 90,000 square feet of retail.
The project is one of a handful of developments that are shaping up to remake Hercules in the aftermath of a redevelopment and financial mess left by previous city leaders. The others include a Safeway-anchored shopping center, another retail center by McNellis Partners and Presidio Development Partners’ revival of Sycamore North, a half-built multifamily project.
Anderson Pacific plans to start infrastructure work on the waterfront project in the spring and then begin the first phase of 750 multifamily units in the fall.

TIAA-CREF Engages Agency In San Francisco
Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) and College Retirement Equities Fund (CREF) is undertaking a substantial renovation of its 42-story, 813,000 SF tower and retail plaza at 50 Fremont in San Francisco, and has recently hired the agency to undertake an extensive public relations campaign to support the leasing effort.
In addition to focusing on the benefits of the project’s renovation for which the agency has already received positive media coverage from the architectural critic at the San Francisco Chronicle (link to print edition).
