The Gardens on El Paseo was a new upscale, outdoor shopping destination being developed on El Paseo, the “Rodeo Drive of Palm Desert”. It was being built at a time when the local residential population was deemed too seasonal to support a year-round retail experience – especially one as high-end as The Gardens. The agency was challenged to develop all of the branding and marketing materials related to the retail leasing of the specialty and lifestyle center, in addition to a consumer-targeted marketing campaign. The agency set the tone for the center with the creation of a new logo encapsulating the dramatically beautiful landscape and the natural desertflora within the development.

The agency’s multifaceted public relations campaign resulted in extensive positive press coverage and multiple cover stories in local, regional, and trade publications. National attention was garnered from a positive article with illustrations in the Wall Street Journal prior to the center’s opening. The agency also orchestrated well-attended on-site leasing events during construction for brokers attending ICSC. Nearer to completion, an outdoor, print, and broadcast advertising campaign was launched to drive consumer interest in the lifestyle center.

The campaigns resulted in 100% lease up of the retail space, and the Agency produced a highly successful grand opening for more than 1,000 influential guests from the community. The Gardens on El Paseo continues to enjoy its role as the preferred gathering and shopping destination in Palm Desert, featuring leading retailers such as a couture Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade, Coach, Tesla, L’Occitane, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Anthropologie and a Tommy Bahama Boutique and Restaurant, to name a few.
